Blue Hill at Stone Barns Proposal

May 29, 2019

I was asked to photograph a proposal at Blue Hill at Stone Barns for my good friend and photographer Sara Wight of Sara Wight Photography. I of course could not pass up that opportunity to photograph at Blue Hill. I’ve been to the farm a few times and absolutely love it. I’ve been to visit with my family for a day at the farm which was a lot of fun and also for their annual sheep shearing festival through Stone Barns Center. If you have not visited the farm for a day or eaten at the restaurant I would highly recommend taking the trip to Tarrytown for the day.

I was really excited to photograph the proposal. There is the element of surprise and anticipation that is so much fun. While I was on my way out of Brooklyn to Blue Hill it was pouring rain. It had been raining all day long. I was constantly checking my weather app to see if it would stop! When I arrived at the restaurant I was taken to the barn where the couple would come for a separate dinner course. It was decorated so beautifully with little flower pots and romantic lighting. It was still raining as I waited outside the barn area and P was wet. Just as the proposal was about to happen it actually stopped raining! It was amazing. We were able to take some really great pictures both in the barn and also just outside on the path. The weather was actually very moody and romantic so I think it made for amazing photos. Take a look at what I got and let me know what you think!
